Arts Courses Eligibility
B.A

Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent qualification following subjects:-

English
Any one of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages or any Classical Language.
Any three subjects from among the subjects under the faculty mentioned below i. Economics ii. Book keeping and Accountancy iii. Organisation of Commerce iv. Geography v. Mathematics & Statistics vi. Secretarial Practice vii. Co-operation
Any One Optional subject carrying 100 marks.
OR
Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination with vocational subject conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education in following subjects

English
Any one vocational subject carrying 200 marks prescribed for the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination from time to time.
Any three subjects 100 marks each from among the subjects under the Faculty of Commerce.
OR
Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination conducted by the different Divisional Board of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education from Arts or Science streams with the following combination of subjects :-

English
Any one of the Modern Indian Language or Modern Languages or any Classical Language.
Any one subject from the following Five subjects. i. Economics ii. Mathematics and Statistics iii. Geography iv. Psychology v. Geology
Any three subjects carrying 100 marks each from the Arts or Science Faculty.
Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std. XII) examination conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education from Arts or Science streams with the following combination of subjects :-

English
Any one vocational subject carrying 200 marks.
Any one subject from the following Five subjects.
Economics
Mathematics and Statistics
Geography

4. Any two subjects carrying 100 marks each from among the subjects under the Arts or Science Faculty.

OR
Must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate (Std.XII) examination with the Minimum Competency-based Vocational Course (MCVC) conducted by the different Divisional Boards of the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education with the following subjects :-

English
Any one of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages or any Classical Language.
Any one subject carrying 300 marks from among the Minimum Competency-based Vocational Courses prescribed by the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination Board from time to time.
OR
Must have passed an examination of another University or body recognised as equivalent thereto. e.g. CBSE, ICSE, NOS and HSC Boards outside Maharashtra after obtaining the provisional eligibility from Eligibility Section of the University at Vidyanagari.

M.A

1. Those who have passed the Bachelor?s Degree Examination of this University in any faculty or equivalent degree from other University

Students from other Universities desirous of seeking admission to courses of the IDE should obtain a Provisional Statement of Eligibility from the Registrar, Eligibility & Migration Section, University of Mumbai, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan, Vidyanagari, Kalina, Santacruz (East), Mumbai 400098, before they apply for admission. They should submit the Provisional Statement of Eligibility at the time of admission.
Students admitted on the basis of Provisional Statement of Eligibility should submit to the IDE the Migration Certificate in original with the Statement of Marks and Passing / Degree Certificate of the qualifying examination in original for confirmation of eligibility for admission to the said course before the close of the first term failing which their admission is liable to the cancelled.

(B) Eligibility for Admission to M.A. Part - II

M.A. Part I students can take admission to M.A. Part II Course (The students those who have not passed M.A. Part I examination will be admitted on following conditions
N.B. The students who had taken admission & kept two terms at M.A. Part - I course of IDE during the last six academic years (i.e. from 2002-2003 to 2006-2007) but had not appeared or appeared & failed at the examination of the said course held till the First Half of the year 2007 (i.e. April/May 2007), ARE PERMITTED TO TAKE ADMISSION TO THE M.A. PART - II COURSE, subject to their passing the M.A. Part - I Examination to be held in the Second Half of the year 2007 (i.e. October/November 2007) and their submission of the original and three attested Xerox copies of the Statement of Marks of passing the M.A. Part - I Examination within ten days of the declaration of the result of the examination.

If the students do not submit their mark sheet of passing the M.A. Part - I Examination by the due date, their advance application form for M.A. Part - II Examination to be held in the First Half of the year 2008 (i.e. March / April 2008) will be treated as cancelled and will not be forwarded to the Controller of Examination.
In that case, the Advance Examination fees paid by the student will be refunded by the IDE on receiving the necessary application from the student within ten days from the date of declaration of their result of M.A. Part - I Examination, falling which the advance examination fees paid by the student will get forfeited.

NO NOTICE OF THE REQUIREMENT WILL BE SEPARATELY SENT TO THE INDIVIDUAL STUDENTS.

MA- Education

Those who have passed the B.Ed./B.A with Education as one of the Elective paper or equivalent degree from other University.

Commerce Courses Eligibility
B.COM

Passed 10 + 2 or equivalent qualification following subjects:-

English
Any one of the Modern Indian Languages or Modern Foreign Languages or any Classical Language.

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the PG Diploma Course in Financial Management and PG Diploma Course in Operations Research for Management.

Must hold a University degree in any faculty with two year?s work experience in any Organisation.
OR
must have recognised professional qualifications and at least five year?s professional experience.
Notwithstanding anything mentioned at (a) above the Defence Services Personnel may be admitted to the course even if they are not degree holders. Students from XIIth from Maharashtra
Board Eligibility For Admission To Second Year PGDFM and PGDORM Course

Must have passed at least in one paper of First Year PGDFM/PGDORM respectively.

PG-DORM

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the PG Diploma Course in Financial Management and PG Diploma Course in Operations Research for Management.
Must hold a University degree in any faculty with two year?s work experience in any Organisation.

OR

must have recognised professional qualifications and at least five year?s professional experience.

Board Eligibility For Admission To Second Year PGDFM and PGDORM Course

Must have passed at least in one paper of First Year PGDFM/PGDORM respectively.

Science Courses Eligibility
B.Sc. Comp. Science

B.Sc.(Computer Science) Three Years Degree Course :- Min. Qualification: HSC (XII) Science with Mathematics or eequivalent.

Entrance Test: Provisional selection for the Entrance Test will be made through Institute of Distance Education, University of Mumbai.

M.Sc. Maths

Persons belonging to the following categories only shall be eligible for admission to the M.A./ M.Sc. (Maths) Degree Examination of this University.

Those who have passed the B.A./B.Sc. Degree Examination with at least two papers in Mathematics of this University.

Those who have passed an examination of another University as equivalent to the B.Sc./B.A. Degree Examination of the University with at least three papers in Mathematics and residing anywhere in India.

Students from other Universities desirous of seeking admission to M.A./M.Sc. (Maths) courses of the IDE should obtain a Provisional Statement of Eligibility from the Registrar, Eligibility & Migration Section, University of Mumbai, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Bhavan, Vidyanagari, Kalina, Santacruz (East), Mumbai 400098. They should submit the Provisional Statement of the Eligibility at the time of admission.

N.B. A student from another University who was issued the statement of eligibility for admission to a particular course of study in this University (in accordance with 0.111) is required to obtain fresh statement of eligibility for seeking admission to another course of study in this University, of withstanding the tact that he/she may have/have not completed the course when he/she took the statement of eligibility in the first instance.

M.Sc. Comp. Science

M.Sc.(Computer Science) Two years, Post Graduate Degree Course :- Min. Qualification: Graduate in B Sc. with Statistics or Physics or Mathematics or B.Sc. Comp. Sc. or B Sc. IT. or equivalent of a Statutory University.

Entrance Test: Provisional selection for the Entrance Test will be made through Institute of Distance Education, University of Mumbai.

 

Technology Courses Eligibility
B.Sc. IT

B.Sc. (Information Technology) Three Years, Six Semesters Degree Course :- Min. Qualification: - HSC (XII Std.)with Mathematics or Statistics and should have secured not less than 45% marks in aggregate for open category and 40% marks in aggregate in case of reserved category candidates.

Candidates who have passed Diploma Engineering from recognized the Board of Technical Education are eligible for direct admission to the Second Year of the B.Sc.IT degree course. with minimum marks required 45% aggregate for open category candidates and 40% aggregate for reserved category candidates.

Entrance Test: Provisional selection for the Entrance Test will be made through Institute of Distance Education, University of Mumbai.

B.Sc.Nautical Tech

A candidate for being eligible for admission to the B. Sc. Nautical Technology Degree Course:

1)must have passed the Higher Secondary School Certificate or equivalent (Standard XII) Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education, Mumbai or an examination of any other body recognised as equivalent thereto, with the following subjects: English, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
OR
Standard XI for candidates who have passed before 1978, with the following subjects: English, Science, and Mathematics

2) * has been sponsored by a shipping company through their respective Associations as an officer trainee in the Nautical Department of a sea-going ship for a minimum of twenty-four months of practical shipboard training as approved sea-going service and approved as Structured Shipboard Training Programme (SSTP) by the Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India (To begin with, a list of participating shipping companies, who are members of INSA, FOSMA and MASSA is enclosed at Appendix 1, 2 and 3 respectively);

OR

has already performed a minimum of twenty-four months of practical shipboard training as approved sea-going service as an officer trainee in the Nautical Department of a sea-going ship (Testimonial to be submitted as proof in the form of ?Sea-time Certificate? from the shipping company or Attested copy of Continuous Discharge Certificate or the certificate of competency as Navigating Officer on completion of such training)

* For obtaining Sponsorship, a candidate will need to satisfy additional criteria as laid down by Directorate General of Shipping, Ministry of Shipping, Road Transport and highways, Govt. of India. As on date, the additional criteria is:

?Selection by a Shipping Company (written examination and/or interview followed by psychometric test, if any) who are members of INSA / FOSMA / MASSA.

Minimum 60% marks in the aggregate of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics at (10 + 2) level.

Minimum 50% marks in English at 10th or (10 + 2) level.

Medical fitness as per standards laid down in Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000

Eye sight test conducted by Mercantile Marine Department, Ministry of Shipping, Govt. of India. (Eye sight 6/6 without external aids, no colour blindness).

Age as on the date of commencement of pre-sea training for deck cadets at DGS approved maritime training institute. not exceeding :

10 + 2 - 20 years

B. Sc. - 22 years

B.E. / B. Tech- 23 years

24 months DGS approved structured shipboard training programme.

6 months Post-Sea education & training courses at DGS approved maritime training institutes.

M.Sc. IT

M.Sc. (Information Technology) Two years Post Graduate Degree Course: Min. Qualification: Graduate in B Sc. Comp. Sc. or B Sc. IT. Graduate or equivalent or B.E. in any branch of a Statutory University

Entrance Test: Provisional selection for the Entrance Test will be made through Institute of Distance Education, University of Mumbai.

MCA

MCA (Master of Computer Application) : - Three years (Six semesters) Post Graduate Degree Course
Min. Qualification: Graduate in any faculty of a statutory University with minimum 45% marks (minimum 40% for reserved category) and Mathematics at XII or higher level. There will be an aptitude test for the admission in MCA course.

Entrance Test: Provisional selection for the Entrance Test will be made through Institute of Distance Education, University of Mumbai.
